Corps member dies in car crash after 3 weeks in orientation camp


An accident which occurred in Taraba State on Monday, July 8, 2019, left a corps member dead and 19 others injured.

The deceased was heading to his primary place of assignment in Sarduna Local Government Area of the state, when the Toyota Hiace bus he was traveling in had a collision with a minibus. Confirming the incident, Taraba’s NYSC coordinator, Florence Yaakugh told Channels TV;


“It was a minibus that had a head-on collision with a Toyota Hiace bus conveying the corps members to Sarduna Local Government Area of the state for their primary assignments.

“The accident, according to some eyewitnesses, occurred when the minibus was attempting to overtake two trailers at a time, but could not make it leading to the accident. It is not an easy moment for me and the entire NYSC in Taraba State”, she said.

She further revealed that five corps members injured in the accident are still receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo, the state capital, while others have been discharged.
